If you’ve ever met me, you probably know that I harbor a not-so-secret almost-lifelong dream of becoming a web-celeb. And no, the AngelFire website made about me being a fat ballerina in high school does not count. Nor does the AngelFire website made about me throwing temper tantrums after being called a fat ballerina on the interwebz.
My web celeb dream is real. It’s WHOA! David Copperfield invites me to a Magic Show because he thinks I’m funny Kelly Oxford style real. It’s OOPS! I got noticed then a job writing on Parks and Recreation cause I’m an awesome tweeter Megan Amram style real.
Unfortch, I am not actually that funny when restricted to 140 characters, so tweeting isn’t really my thang. (You can follow me anyway though!) HOWEVER: stalking funny tweeters is totes my thang.
Below please find my top 10 fave web-celebs of the moment (in particular order).
10. Nick (@NickBossRoss)
Nick is Canadian AND funny! So he’s like, the next Kelly Oxford, right? But less hot because Kelly Oxford is super hot and he is either not that hot or should get a new Twitter picture.
9. Alexi Wasser (@imboycrazy)
I first discovered Alexi Wasser when she had a cameo in the Girls pilot – “I’m sorry I’m just not really into eating this week” – that made me LOL. Later, I realized that Ray’s momentary girlfriend IS THE SAME PERSON WHO WRITES THE BLOG I’M BOY CRAZY, which I love. Ladies: If you haven’t read it, this post from Alexi will get you through any breakup ever. Really for serious for real.
Anyway, she’s pretty funny on Twitter too.
PS: Alexi, if you are reading this, my co-author Rachel is obsessed with you. But you probably already know that…
8. Liana Maeby (@lianamaeby)
Snarky writer girl with a just-elitist-enough-for-me sense of humor…
AND a penchant for Shakespeare jokes?
Needless to say, I’m into it.
7. Krista Doyle (@Krista_Doyle)
Internet predator extraordinaire who “mourns the fact that she’s not Kate Winslet at least once a day.” I am endlessly amused by this chick’s audacity/lack of boundaries/hilarity.
Also, she works in Hollywood, so I find certain tweets of hers to be very relatable:
6. Nicole Betz (@TomHanksIsHot)
Fellow aspiring TV writer making jokes about how yes, she is still broke and struggling, thank you very much.
She also has some pretty awesome insight into the life of celebrities…
5. Ferg (@hobo_hands)
Don’t know this guy’s real name, but if I did, I might try to date him / Google him on my couch for a couple hours, which is basically the same thing. He’s relatable:
And probably insane:
So, my type.
4. Julianne Smolinski (@BoobsRadley)
3. Trevor S (@trevso_electric)
Emotional, thoughtful, feeling feelings…
But most importantly, he created @dance_blessed: “**Life is a dance** Inspiration from #beautiful #strong and #blessed women.”
2. Sam Grittner (@SamGrittner)
Is a stand-up comedian, writer and actor living in New York and having a beard and not knowing that I want to kiss him.
Also, he created @TonightOnGIRLS, an absurdist twitter account paying homage to my favorite show on TV. Also, he is my soulmate.
1. Bridger Winegar (@bridger_w)
Bridger Winegar is a dude and a ginger who sometimes appears on The Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson and who is my all time bar none favorite person on twitter / maybe in the universe. Bridger, if for some reason you had any reason to read this, please be my friend. Also, cool hair.
Please let me know if I missed any crucial web-celebs in the comments. In the meantime, I’ll be on Twitter.
