Girls: Season 38

Internet find of the day: Hannah Horvath, age 65, is still binge eating, still talking her friends’ ears off, and still trying to be the voice of her generation.

Hannah and Jessa: still holding out hope for the future.

Hannah and Jessa: still holding out hope for the future.

Written and Directed by Gail Lerner (Will & Grace, Happy Endings, Animal Practice), this little gem is exactly what it sounds like: Girls + 38 (ish?) years. And guess what? Some things (themes!) never change.

Highlights include:

1) Watching Martin Starr go to bonetown with 65 year old Hannah Horvath in spandex: “Why didn’t you get naked?” (Note: I would watch Martin Starr go to bonetown with anyone, but this was particularly entertaining.)

2) An aging Marnie, still clinging to her identity (does she still have a pretty person job?): “I am very beautiful all of the time.” Wendie Malick does look pretty good for her age though.

3) Friendship struggles.

Hannah: “At least I’m [a better friend] than Jessa. I read my essay about giving a guy with Parkinsons a handjob to nine semi-interested people at a Starbucks last week, and she didn’t even come. I mean seriously, what is she so busy doing?”

Marnie: “Chemo.”

4) Hannah eating a lobster with her bare hands as Shosh admires a 9 month old baby: “You are tooootally young and beautiful. I wanna be you.”
