I don’t get it.
JK, I kind of get it. I think MIA is really concerned about “the future” and thinks “the future is here” and that it’s not looking so pretty. We can make weapons in our own homes, our culture is super sexualized and violence-loving, we’re all just digital footprints of ourselves, and technology is just helping us becoming more brutal by the second. The “Double Bubble Trouble” video is an aural and visual A-bomb of guns, technology, vague slogans, photo effects, and, cheetahs? Yet there’s still something sexy/dark/cool about it all? A counter-culture that’s erupting by embracing the baseness? If 1984 is now… what does 1985 bring?
Ok, maybe I still don’t get it.
